BOWLERS’ FAREWELL.

TO MR AND MRS M. J. SUHAN. A pleasant little valedictory function took place at the Levin Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon, when opportunity was taken of a lull in play to say good-bye to Mr and Mrs M. ,T. Sulian and wish them bon voyage. Mr Sulian has been selected as one of the Dominion ’s representatives with the N.Z. bowling team to visit England, a much sought-after honour amongst bowlers, and leaves on Wednesday for the Old Country. There were present a large assemblage of members and their friends,, including the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs T. Ilobson, with visiting rin’lcs from the Otalci and Terrace End Clubs. ' During the. afternoon tea interval, the good wishes of their friends in Levin were tendered to Mr ami Mrs Sulian.

The President of the Club, Mr R. J. Foss, in a complimentary speech, ex pressed the indebtedness of bowlers to Mrs Sulian for the sterling work she had done in connection with the social side of the club. Mr Foss traced Mr Suhan’s record with bowls in Levin since the incorporation of the club, and referred to his successful term of office as President and general interest in the Club. As a plavei he. had reach ed the front rank, having been three times club champion, twice champion of the Manavvatu Centre, and having played in rinks that had won honour for the Club by bringing the Dixon Cnp, (he Mansou and Barr Cup, and the Kinueburgh Feathers to Levin. On behalf of those assembled he wished Mr and '•Mrs .Sulian a good and pleasant holiday and a successful tour, sentiments that • were echoed by all piesent. The Mayor, Mr Hobson, spoke appreciatively of Mr and Mrs Suhan as citizens of Levin, and assured them that the town wished them a very pleasant time. Air Suhan thanked all for their good wishes, which he and Mrs Sulian sincerely appreciated. He expressed the hope that he would be back in Levin liv next Christmas.
