DANGERS OF BOXING
LONDON, Jan. 12. A campaign in favour of prohibiting knock outs in boxing has followed Dr. Gaardlund’s disclosures in a Swedish medical monthly, which scientifically show that they are injurious to the brain, creating serious lesions within the skull, and causing blood vessels to be torn. The Stockholm correspondent of the' observer says that Dr. Gaardlund has been supported by other doctors, one pointing nut that every knock-out means concussion of tiro brain, and may even lead to idiocy Boxing exports declare that if matches wore decided solely on a points basis it would reduce the number of spectators, who always expect a sensational blow.
