SHANNON WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
The usual monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute (Shannon Branch) was held on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Butt presided over a good attendance, and after discussing several matters, of business, and finalising details for the street stall to be Hold on Saturday week, the mooting moved on to the educational part of the programme, which took the form of a competition, “Making two button holes in the material provided.” Metabers .-all entered in good spirit, and some fine work resulted. Popular vote awarded first place to Mrs (Bovis with Mrs Terry a close second) / An amusing contest, “ Guessing the originals of members earliest photographs,” caused some brain wracking, and resulted in a win for Miss Butt with all correct. Afternoon tea and a- lesson in euchre to two members wishful to learn the gainty ended anolher interesting afternoon. .
The third Wednesday in the month is now being looked forward to by the Institute members, and there is every evidence that the movement is firmly established in Shannon.
