A heavy gale was experienced in the Makerua and Tokomaru localities on Saturday afternoon, although nothing more than a breeze was noticeable in Levin. The force of the wind in the former district was so severe, coming evidently from the south-east and down the gullies, that motoring was fraught with some danger at the road corners. In Palmerston during the night there was a severe blow, and the wind continued very strongly there on Sunday.
