A USEFUL HINT

It occasionally happens that a suit able box spanner cannot be obtained to reach an inaccessible nut on the car, and one has, therefore, to be made. Often an old bicycle saddle tube can be found, nnd this should be heated at one end until a dull red, when a nut of the size for which the spanner is intended should be inserted in the end. The tube should then be hammered down On to the face of the nut all round, and the nut withdrawn. It is desirabUe that the spanner so made should be hardened if it is going to be much used. The crankc-d part of the tube serves as a tommy bar, nnd can, if required, also be made into a box spanner, to take a differentsized nut.
