76-YEAR-OLD SPARTAN.
18,000 COLD SWIMS. LONDON, Dec. 18. While fogHshroundjed London slept peacefully at seven o'clock this morning, Richard Ledger celebrated his 76th birthday by swimming the Serpentine. He has 'bathed there 18.000 times, walking more than 56,000 miles before breakfast to and from Paddington, in time to start work with the firm which has employed him for half a century.
