PALMERSTON WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALE
We held our usual monthly sale of the above on Thursday Ist December when we offered a largo Catalogue to a full attendance of buyers. Competition was exceptionally keen and everything sold readily under th° hammer.
Wool met with very spirited competition and sold at prices equal to those ruling in the largo centres. Sheep Skins: There was again an excellent demand and dry skins advanced id. to 3d. Salted skins were also firmer at 1/- to 1/6, better than last sale. Salted pelts in good demand.
Hides:—There was again a g-ood enquiry and prices advanced from id. to 3d. per lb.
Calf Skins:—A very firm market ruled at advanced prices. Tallow: —The demand was hot keen but several lines sold at slightly better prices.
We quote:—Wool, Southdown 21J per lb., X-Bred medium 17J. coarse 142 to 151, dead 13 to 131, Dead Seedy 9£ to 10?,., Crutchings Short and Seedy 81 to 9, pieces 7 to 101, Locks 61 to 7.
Sheep Skins: —X-Bred fine 143, medium 131 to 14, coarse 12i (Jo 131 Dead 10 to 111, X-Bred Damaged, 81 to 12.34, Salted Pelts, 3/5 to 3/11 each.
Hides: —Ox heavy 111, medium 111, light 101 to 11, cow heavy 10 5-8 medium 11 1-8; light 11 5-8, cut and inferior 8 5-8 to 101, Horse Hides 12/6 each.
Calf Skins: Best lines 17 1-8 per 1b... good 15 5-8 to 161, stained 143 tto 151, cut and inferior 101 to 1.23Tallow: in casks £25/10/- per ton, tins £2l to £23 per ton.
