ONION BUTTONHOLE
The newest buttonhole seen in Bond street and the Park (writes the Daily Chronicle) at the fashionable hour is vegetable but not floral. Sometimes ii; is worn on the coat; other Avomerr wear their vegetable posies On their hats. ' A skull cap of black felt with a bunch of artificial asparagus tied with silver thread at one Side* of it is a striking example of the new mode. A sort of miniature harvest festival of tiny carrots, turnips, onions, and radishes, in excellent imitation of the real thing is tied in a bunch and surrounded Avith vegetable leaves. These buttonholes are worn with coats and skirts or long coats of the severe type, and simple felt or straw hats Avith a ribbon that is sometimes decorated Avith a single fruit of the soil, such as a radish, onion or tomato. i A cretonne with a black ground printed with bunches of pink and Avhite radishes and green leaves is used for waistcoats and long coats, to wear with plain silk or cotton frocks in gay colours.
