THE STOCK MARKET

SHANNON SALE. At the monthly stock sale held in the Shanon yards last week, there was a fair attendance of buyers,, despite the wet day. The yarding was not so large as usual, no sheep or dairy stock being offered. The lines offered nearly all chauged hands at prices on a par with, ruling rates elsewhere. The following are the prices realised:—Fat cows' £5 10s, store cows £2 to £2 las, yearling Jersey steers 295, forward cows £3 os, small yearling Jersey heifers £2 10s, junall Polled Angus yearling heifers £3.

LEVIN SALE. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that at the Levin sale last week, they offered* a fair yarding of sheep and cattle and a good entry of pigs to an interested attendance of buyers. Sheep met a very ready sale and enhanced values prevailed, whilst the enquiry for cattle and pigs was good aid late rates were realised. 'A total clearance in all lines was made under the hammer at the following prices:— • Sheep.—Shorn forward condition 4tooth wethers 24/3 6d, small 2-tooth wethers 17s, woolly hoggets (forward) 25s to 275, goodstore ewes 15s 6d, culls 3s 6d. Cattle.—-Forward bullocks £8 14a, fat ■cows £4 10s to £5, forward P.A. heifers £4 os 'to £4 12s, stores £2 to £2 10s. Cows :n calf £4 10s. coloured yearling heifers £2 10s to £2 19a, bulls £3 5s to £4, dairy cows in milk £4 to £B. Figs—Heavy porkers £2 7s fcQ £2 lis. Light porkers 38s to £2 4s, good Btores 26s to 32s 6d.. Weaners 21s to 22s 6d.

Owing to the wet weather there was a comparatively small atendance at the Levin stock sale last week, and' the entries of stock were below the average. Sheep ; showed a slight rise in. prices, while cattle and pigs sold at late rates. Messrs Abraham and WilJiams, Ltd., report having effected sales at the following prices:— Sheep.—-Forward four-tooth shor;n \ wethers 245, woolly hoggets 27s 6d, fat ' woolly wethers 365, fat ewes 18s. '

Pigs.—Weaners 18s, stores 255, porkers 38s to £2.
