GLUE WASHING
Quite a number of women do not know that ordinary hard glue—the kind which is bought at the ironmongers’—provides an excellent meant, of washing serge. The process is quite simple. Place a quart of water in a saucepan and in it dissolve, two ounces of glue. Add this to a tub of warm water, and put in the dirty articles. The washing should be performed by kneading, care being taken to perform this very thoroughly. It is also important to rinse in several warm waters till the water is quite clear. The articles should then be passed through the mangle, shaken, and hung to dry in the ordinary manner. A point which must be remembered is that glue washing must never be employed when the serge is at all greasy. It is useful to know that a
vashing- machine may be employed for the process with every degree of success.
