MORE MILK THAN BEER
A "MILK" BAR. Britain drinks more milk than beer. Statistics given in a written reply by Sir Philip CunliffelListcr, president of the Board of Trade, reveal, that while approximately nineteen gallons per head of the population are consumed of each beverage, milk is in slightly greater demand. The amount of milk consumed in a year was approximately 850,000,000 gallons. Beer consumption over a similar period worked out at 749,531,184 gallons.
A "milk" bar has been installed recently in Gne of the great London stores. It forms a novel feature of a beautiful Health Exhibition which has been organised by Mr Basil Foster, the actor, to demonstrate the value of various foods as, an aid to b-eauty. Miss Heather Thatcher, the actress, was among the many shoppers who were sipping pasturised milk at the "bar" through straws direct from the bottles.
