RADIO PIRATES
A definite and vigorous offensive against radio pirates is now being conducted in New Zealand: particularly in the cities and suburbs. As a result there will be a decided increase In court revenue from fines, as a large number In Auckland alone will be shortly have to face the Bench. It has been estimated that there are about a thousand pirates in Auckland, but that there will be vory few of them left in a month or so. Some of the evaders of just claims devote to avoiding license fees an ingenuity that would be much better applied in other directions. A gas-meter inspector recently located a concealed earth connected with a gaspipc, and also with an unlicensed set. In another case the aerial was suspended inside a partition separating two rooms, and was so arranged that detection,, other than by signals wo s almost impossible.
