BABY’S CARRIAGE
Nowadays one never calls them “perambulators.’' The name has disappeared with the bone-shaking cramped and draughty conveyances in which youngsters of the previous generation took their first outings. Baby carriage bodies in these days are coach-built and painted. Seep red, blue and fawn are popular colours. and plated fittings add to the handsome appearance of the panelled chasis. The shining side panels, often bear baby’s crest or monogram. Special washable leather-cloth IS used for the interior upholstery of the best cars, while soltly padded cushions form a foundation for the cosy little bed. ; All wheels have shock-resisting tyres, and double springs avoid the possibility of the sudden bumps .or jerks which are so disturbing to the baby’s peace and bad for his physical well-being. Withal, these very complete car riages are delightfully easy and light to handle, and are designed to ssv( all strain and exertion in pushing. At the opposite extreme to thesi big baby coaches, the newest foldinj chairs and framework carriages co lapse into the smallest conceivabl space. Some can be folded up an slipped neatly into ■waterproof case: to be carried like handbags.
