Another reduction of Id per. gallon on the price of petrol in London came inlo effect in August. This brings firstgrade motor spirits to a retail price of Is lid per gallon, tluj lowest rate since the -early days of motoring. Petprices in London were at their peak in August, 1920, when the retail rate stood at 4s 31d per gallon. By January, 1921, the price had fallen to 3s- sid, and for the first time since pre-war days the price was at 2s in Sept-ember, 1922. The fall has continued without interruption for five years, the reductions usually ' being Id per gallon. Last December petrol was at Is BJd. Now it is 4d lower.
