SUNSHINE FOR STOCK

A LIFE-SAVING ELEMENT.

Sunshine is about as nearly a lifesaving element as is known in a material world. Without it practically no vegetation thrives. Without it, animal life itself is inefficient. It is now being demonstrated that the direct rays of the sun are highly efficient in curing or preventing many of the weaknesses and illnesses to which various classes of livestock, as well as human beings, are subject. Rickets, which is the name for a trouble which takes the form of Improperly developed bone, is nearly, if not quite, overcome by adequate direct sunlight. Pigs and calves which are provided with opportunity to spend much of their time out in the sunshine thrive much more efficiently than do those confined to the shade of th'eir pens or barns.
