HOROWHENUA POWER DISTRICT.
REPORT OF BOARD'S ENGINEER.
Mr J. A. Smith, engineer to the Horowhenua Power Board, reported to the meeting held on Tuesday as follows: —. No. 1 Gang have been engaged on genera} overhaul on Waikanae Beach, Beach Road, Waikanae Township, and EeiKorangi. Poles have been straightened; cross-arms, insulator pins, and ironwork -tightened' up; and wires restrained; fuse boxes overhauled, and trees cut back, and three services run. No. 2 gang have run 12 service lines and erecied 15 poles and run 312 chains of wire; made alterations to L.T., Weraroa Road and Kawiu Road; have run extra phases Stuckey Street, Levin;" extended L.T. on Kawiu Road extension, north side of Foxton Road; inr stalled Kehnan switch at Foxton main sub.; re-srrained some L.T., Foxton Beach and Ilautcre, and altered some P. and T. crossings in Levin. No. 3 Gang have attended maintenance northern area and main Shannon .sub.; pulled up and examined services, Shannon; strengthened earths No. 1 circuit, and read quarterly meters and aitended to consumers' requirements.
Electrical fitters have run three service lines; changed transformers, Parapara amu townsuip, .Paraparaumu Valley, and Harper's Mill; installed 10 k.v.a. transformers with 15 k.v.a., Tokomaru township; have renewed transformer fuses, Levin-Foxton and Lady's Mile, Levin-Otaki, and OtakiVVaikanae circuits; have been checking and balancing load, Queen Street East and Tiro Tiro road L.T. circuits; attended to complaints and street lamp renewals. _ , iauiki
Installations. —During the month 11 applications from new consumers and 14 applications for extensions to existing installations have been received, comprising 2 ranges, 6 water-heaters, 3 milking motors and 4 industrial motors. Twelve new consumers and 26 extensions have been connected, including 5 ranges, 8 water-heaters, 6 milking motors and 6 industrial motors.
Test Room.— Eighty-six single-phase and S polyphase meters have been test-, ed and 1U repaired; 2 ranges dried out and delivered to consumers.
General. —The Foxton-Main North Line has been pegged out, and as soon as the necessary easements are obtained, this will be gone on with. A 20 h.p. motor has been temporally installed at the Rahui factory, which will be run off peak load hours. The main installation in this factory will shortly be ready. The peak load for the quarter ended September 30th, was 1923 5 k.v.a.
