CRICKET CONTROL.

HOROWHENUA ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the Horowhenua Cricket Association was held in the Lyric supper-room, Otaki, on Monday evening, when delegates were present from Levin, Weraroa, Otaki and Paraparaumu. Mr F. S. Simcox presided, and a quantity of routine business in preparation for the season was dealt with.

Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—-Patron, Mr T. Hobson, Mayor of Levin; president, MrG. France; vice-presidents, Messrs Reeve (Paraparaumu), Hudson*(Levin), Stewart (Otaki), and Tong (Foxton); hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr F. E. Langelan; selector, Mr J. Hall; management committee, Messrs Fraince 4 Hudson and Langelan. It decided 'that the season's competitions open on Saturday, October 29th. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £lO 3s lid. A resolution was passed* that this association again affiliate with the Manawatu Association. '

A discussion took place in regard to the O 'Connor Cup competition for boys, as it was evident that this branch of cricket required more fostering. A committee was appointed to consider the question of having sthe conditions revised with this object in view. The hope was expressed that the Levin Wednesday Half-Holiday Club would be able to put a strong team in the field, as the Phoenix Club has already taken steps in this direction, and endeavours will be made to establish a live mid-week series of matches.

The next annual meeting of the Association will be held in Levin.
