SHANNON CHORAL SOCIETY.

AFTER THE CONCERT. The orchestra at the Shannon Choral Society's performance of "Merrie England'? was arranged by Miss Mona Neale and came in for a lot of praise. The names of the players were Miss Nancy Balfour, Masters Franks and Ilommingson (violins) and Miss J. Thomson (cello) together with Mrs Clifford-Jones (piano). These members put in a lot of practices and were thoroughly deserving of the praise accorded them. Miss Neale has kindly irroinised assistance at the next concert. The conductor and committee desire to express through the press their thanks to the Shannon public for their very loyal support given at the last concert." The support shows that the public appreciate the best of talent when it is displayed. It gives an impetus for the committee to obtain the very best at their concerts irrespective :if -i'ees. The committee are already considering a leading New Zealand tenor tor their next concert.

Amongst the telegrams sent, on Thursday night was one from the Napier Choral Society wishing Shannon .■very success. M.V. James, of the Palmerston North i'lur.-il Society, assisted in the bass ection at the concert.

Miss Greta Jones, of the Wellington Hospital staff, paid a special'visit to Shannon to hear "Merrie England." Miss Jones held the position of libraMan for the Society. Miss Eva Quarrie is the present librarian and carries out her duties in a very "methodical, quiet manner. " The visiting soloists are loud in their piaises of their visit to Shannon and want to come again. Miss Green and Miss Wha'lley said it was one of the most enthusiastic audiences' they had ever sung to. The gentlemen soloists with the conductor, took a trip to the Power House on Thursday afternoon and were royally received and entertained to tea at the staff "bach." It is very possible that Miss Nora Greene may' be heard again in Shannon shortly.
