SEPARATED BY FLAGPOLE.

\ BUT UNITED BY LOVE. !

■{ } . Los Angeles, Sept. Iff To-night the marriage took place of a pretty American girl, Miss/Bobbie Mack, who broke a world’s record by sitting on top of a flagpole for 21 days, and, Tom McNamara, who sat at the bottom of the pole throughout) that period. : Such devotion has stirred the continent. At first Mr. McNamara waa anxious to sit on the top of the flagpole too, but was dissuaded by Miss Maek who gently pointed out that the accommodation would be too limited. Undaunted) Mr. McNamara, did the next best thing, and sat faithfully at the the pole, whilst Miss Mack sat-overhead. It has not been divulged whether Mr. McNamara proposed before or after Miss Mack had finished sitting. It was, however, a source of consolation and pride to Miss Maek, tot be able to see Mr. McNamara redlining underneath, and occasionally shout conversation down to him. As she approached breaking the record, Mr. McNamara shouted tenderly and encouragingly up to her, and this waa do doubt a big factor in Miss Mack’s success.

Asked whether the honeymoon would take place on top of a mast, Mr. McNaipara smiled mysteriously. It is rumoured, however, that the happy pair intend to instal several practice flagpoles all round their future home. <
