BUCK JONES IN “30 BELOW

ZERO." In “30 Below Zero" Buek Jones has some new ones. A spill out of a huge airplane flying high above the snowcovered" Polar regions, a tumble down the mountain from a cabin perched on its top, a ride down a monster snowdrift with Buck buried alive in the very centre of a huge snowball. But the success of this latest entertainment of the great western star does not depend on stunts alone for its appeal. There is real story with plenty of suspense in the latest Fox release, which will be a treat for any audience. “Thirty Below Zero” will be screened on Saturday in Shannon. “THE CHEERFUL FRAUD.” Contrast is just as important in comedy as it is in drama, according to William A. Seiter, Universal’s directorial star, whose latest production, “The Cheerful Fraud,’’ starring Reginald Denny, comes- to the local theattre on Monday. Seiter carries out his belief in “The Cheerful Fraud.” The picture is an adaptation of the popular novel by K. R. G. Browne and virtually the entire picture takes place inr a driving rainstorm . . No one will deny that rain is most depressing and the reaction to it is far from cheerful. That is just why it is an excellent background for a pattern of high comedy, Seiter believes. “A jeweller would not think of displaying a diamond on a cloth of gold background. He would use black velvet," Seiter argues. “That is why a gloomy, dark and depressing background heightens the comedy and the absurdity of the actions of the comedians."
