BUCKLEY DRAINAGE BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was held in the Shannon Council Chambers on Friday morning. Present; Air. R. W. Taylor (chairman) and Trustees R. Law, Kdginton, R. Spiers and 11. EastoThe clerk (Mr. J. T. Bovis) tabled a statement showing the expeiulituie to date on the Koputaroa floodgate to be £938 17s 4d, and on the stop bank construction £668 6s 3d. A deputation headed by Air S. W. Carter, representing the Upper Konutaroa .waited on the Board and spoke in favour of deepening the Koputaroa and extending the proposed scheme as far as Tavistock road. The deputation was in favour of a comprehensive scheme to do the whole of the work. Air Perry, representing another deputation, advocated the widening and and deepening of the Koputaroa. The Board then discussed the matter and on a notice of motion given by Trustee Law at the previous meeting it was agreed to rescind the resolution ‘■‘That the classifier be instructed to classify for flood protection, viz., on the river bank in the Board’s district and banking the Koputaroa as far as the railway.” The following motion was then passed:—“That the classifier be instructed to make a general classification of the whole drainage district for flood protection, viz., oil the Manawatu riverbank in the Board’s district and banking the Koputaroa as far as the railway line. Also a sub-divisional classification of the proposed Koputaroa sub-division for drainage purposes . ’ ’
