MANAWHENUA UNION.

THE FINANCIAL POSITION

A meeting of the Management Committee of the Manawatu-Horowhenua Rugby Union was held in Levin on Wednesday, following the.Horowhenua Council's committee meeting in the Wistaria rooms. There were present: Messrs A. M. Ongley (President), J. Har,vey, K. Eglinton and H. Crawford (Manawatu), S. Austin, W. N. Anderson, J. J. O'Connor and J. Casey (Horowhenua). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Robinson (Horowhenua), Colquhoun and Collins (Manawatu). A letter was received from the Taranaki Rugby Union, .thanking the Union for the hospitable treatment accorded the Tarauaki team. The Chairman reported that, after the payment of accounts due, the Union would be in credit to the extent of £1369 9s Id, with no further commitments for the year. The match against Otago that day should pay its own expenses, but he. did not think it would show a profit. It was resolved that the sum of £I2OO be placed on fixed deposit for the ensuing nine months. SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING ON FRIDAY WEEK. The special meeting of delegates to the Union, called for Monday evening next, at Levin, to consider, the Horowhenua request for equal representation on the combined Union, was postponed until the following Friday, September 23rd. On the chaiiman's motion, it was decided to grant £25 towards Mr Gothard, who was severely injured in a combined Union'match last year, the, object of the giant being to assist him to secure special medical treatment. It was resolved to present photographs of the Manawhenua 1927 rep. team to the players, the manager and both coaches.
