GIPSY PAT SMITH'S ALLEGED CRUELTIES. AUCKLAND, Sept. 12. A sensation Avas caused in fashionable and religious circles in the Old Land and America by the announcement that Mrs Pat. Smith, Avife of "Gipsy" Pat Smith, the Avell-knoAvn evangelist, avlio visited NeAv Zealand 1 three years ago, Avas suing her husband for divorce, alleging intolerable cruelties and other causes. She A'isited the Dominion with her husband, singing solos, also duets with him. Before her marriage she Avas Karin Tjader, a famous fashionable and Avealthy society woman. She married Pat years ago, presenting him Avith valuable American property as a Avedding gift. There is one son, aged sixteen months who'is in the charge of his mother, but the husband is endeavouring to get the custody of the child. ■
"Gipsy" Pat Smith is no relation to the other evangelist, Gipsv Smith, avlio was out here in 1926.
