SOLACE IN TOBACCO.
KEEN CONTROVERSY IN LONDON. BEST FASHION FOR LADIES SAYS EXPERT LONDON, Sept. 2. London specialists disagree with the American Doctor Earp, who, as a result of experiments at Antioch College. Ohio, says non-smokers’ brains are better than smokers. Ten per cent, of heavy smokers at the college were dismissed owing to low scholarship, six per cent, lighter smokers and two per cent, non-smokers. Professor Leonard Hill recommends office workers the use of the pipe as a substitute for fresh air. Smoking mildly stimulates the air passages preventing infections of the respiratory tract like influenza and pneumonia. Another specialist says tobacco is a very useful sedative. It rests tho brair-q prevents the machine from overworking. Smoking is the bestfashion introduced for women as it steadies the nerves. A third specialist is of the opinion that since Raleigh, many clever .men have found inspiration and solace in tobacco. If feeble-minded smoke it does not imply that a majority of nonsmokers are more intelligent.
