HOW TO AVOID BURNT CAKES

When baking- a large cake in a small oven, it is a good plan to pin a band of thick paper round the outside of the tin about 2in. deeper than the tin itself. As paper is a bad conductor of heat, this helps to prevent the cake from burning at the sides.
