METHODIST CHURCH CONCERT.

The Parish Hall was packed on Wednesday evening when the committee of the Mehtodist church presented an excellent and varied concert programme. The items were well received and encores were numerous, it being quite evident that the audience appreciated the 'are provided. The organisers had put In a lot of work in preparing the children and the result must have been very gratifying to them. iAmong the denis was a fairy playette “The Wishing Well" by the tiny tots. inis was a very creditable performance, those taking part being Joyce Quarne (mother), Joyce Ingley and Dong Tre-j mewan (children), Jean Hill, Ada Dorset, Jane Johnson, Mavis Hook and baby Lexie Sinclair (fairies). A dialogue by the senior scholars, entitled “The Bobby’s Courtship,” was very humorous, the parts being taken b) Misses Svlvia, Eva and Vera Quarne, Ellen Roberts, Joyco and Mona Ingley aud Messrs J. Riches, J. Ewart, I McLachlan and Roberts. The choruses, songs and jokes by the Excelsior Entertainers made a good hit with the audience, particulary the vocal items and the jokes referring to local citizens. Others who contributed to the success of the concert were: Miss E. Quarrie, violin solo; Mr Leng-Ward, song; Mr. Lon. Milner, two humorous monologues; Mrs C. Cronquest, songs; Miss Vera Quarrie, recitation; Mrs Gibson, (Levin) recitation; Mr. C. Cronquest, comic songs; Miss Jean Mclntosh, character sketch; Mr J. Riches, comic sketch. The accompaniments were played by Mesdames Bovis and Cronquest, Miss Sylvia Quarrie and Mr Leng Ward. The concert was easily one of the best yet submitted by the committee and we understand it is to be repeated at Foxton and Levin and later on at Shannon. During the inter, val the chairman, Rev. S. Peryman, thanked the performers and the public for their support. A most enjoyable entertainment was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
