Mr C. Cronquest was the soloist at Yen. Bede’s Church on Sunday evening, his solo being much appreciated.
A church service conducted by the Rev. \V. Williamson, of Shannon, was held at Mangaore on Thursday evening last.
Mr and Mrs R. Law’s little daughter Audrey, who has been seriously ill in a private hospital in Levin for the past fortnight, has shown a slight improvement during the past two days.
Mr C. Cronquest, who was assistant to Mr Jas. Murray, secretary of the Shannon Co-opeiatiive Dairy Co., Ltd., for three and a-lialf years, has now been appointed secretary to the Company.
Messrs W. 11. Cunning and Co., will make a special showroom display of spring millinery on Saturday next and a cordial invitation is extended to ladies to inspect these new and fashionable goods.
The annual meeting of members, oi the Shannon Amateur Athletic am; Cycling Club will be held in the Council Chambers this evening at 7.30 p.m A full attendance of members and in tending members is requested.
Mrs R v Hayes, of Stout Street, was taken suddenly ill on Sunday morning, necessitating her removal to the Palmerston North Hospital for treatment. Her numerous friends will join in wishing her a speedvq recovery to good health.
To-morrow evening in the Parish Hall the committee of the Methodist Church will hold a concert. An excellent programme has been arranged which will include solos and pianoforte duets by well known local talent; dialogues, recitations, humorous sketches, and choruses, comic songs and jokes by the Excelsior Entertainers. Patfohs are assured of an enjoyable evening’s entertainment.

The total takings at the Horowhenua Oroua rep. football match in Levin or Saturday were £33 10s 9d.
In reply to a request received from the Rev. Father Seymour, of Otaki, the County Council on Saturday decided to assist in providing a crossing from the main road to the Catholic Church at Ohau. The chairman explained that previous to the new formation of the road, the churchgoers tvere able to make an entry without any difficulty, but when the road was reconstructed it left a ditch, and he thought it was impossible to get a motor car over it.
