BREACH OF PROMISE.

WHO IS THE OWNER OF ENGAGEMENT RING? LONDON, June 16. An unexpected problem over the ownership of an engagement ring arose in the King's Bench Division, yesterday, during a breach of promise suit. ; The action was brought by Miss Louise Morris, of Stirling Road, Totrenham, against Mr W. C. Fowler, of Scotland Green, Tottenham. The jury found in the man's favour, but when counsel asked that the ring, which had been handed into court, should be returned, Mr Justice McCardie commented that Miss Morris had had all the advantages of a young engaged woman She was offered a house, luxurious beyond the dreams of a working girl, but refused it. Counsel: And within nine days he married another woman. His Lordship: I'm not surprised, after the way she treated him. (Laughter). I shall make no order for the return of the ring, and if execution is issued upon it, then so be it. Inany event, you cannot be entitled to it. Counsel: I apply formally for the return of this ring handed up by the plaintiff while she was in the box. His Lordship: And I decline to make anv order.
