PRESERVE YOUR LINOLEUM
Both the appearance and wearing properties of the cheaper sorts of lino, leum can be vastly improved by an application of varnish once a year. The varnish is quite simple to make, the ingredients consisting of a quart of methylated spirits to half a pound of shellac. Mix in a large tin. Cover well to prevent eA'aporation, and allow the mixture to stand for a few days. A thin coating only is necessary, and care should be taken to apply it evenly and uniformly. Linoleum should be washed very occasionally, and then only Avith warm water, a flannel and good yelloAv soap. Never use a scrubbing brush, however dirty the floor may be. A little paraffin added to the water will get over the difficulty. A slight polish can be imparted by rubbing the lino over thoroughly Avith a flannel which has been dipped in milk This is the best kind of polish for a linoleum covered floor that is often used for dancing. Grease floor polishes make it 100 slippery.
