ANOTHER PERIL
PASSENGER'S BRAKE, Inventors do funny things at times and the efforts of one, according to reports from New York, is likely to be received with mixed feelings by the people. The invention is an alarm brake by means of which the passengers can stop a vehicle independently of the will of the driver. Tho aim of the inventor was "to find a means of enabling the passenger to control the car in the event of the driver collapsing at the wheel. According to reports, the device would enable this; to be done, but at the same time it would open up a wide avenue of difficulties (says a motoring expert). Picture the result of a nervous passenger applying the brake on a greasy road when a car was likely to skid. The result would be an accident. In fact, the device is one that would be little relished by car drivers, although many people would un. doubtedly welcome it. V
