CHORAL SOCIETY NOTES.
Mr Garde Grimshaw is .now an established teacher of singing and elocution in Shannon and has room for more pupils. Many residents have been waiting for such an opportunity and the district is ■fortunate in having sueh a teacher as Mr Grimshaw in their midst. His best advertisement was the recital of his pupils and himself. He guarantees to produce a voice from next to no voice at all, and this was exemplified in his pupils. One of these, Miss Dewes, two years ago had a very small voice, but to-day is on the way to become a leading soprano. Mr Southgate, who assisted the Shannon Choral Society at the last concert, writes to say that his Society at Napier has just finished a successful concert there, putting on “The Ancient Mariner.” He wishes the Shannon So-ciety-every success in “Merrie England. ”
Mrs H. B. Walker, formerly of Levin, and well known to the Shannon Society, is a member of the Napier Society.
