CHORAL SOCIETY NOTES.

In America the authorities subsidise choral and musical societies, realising the asset they are to a town.

A resident of New Plymouth, who has interests in Shannon, on hearing of the Choral Society being such a success has a great desire to come and reside here whilst some works are in progress. At the last practice of the Shannon Society the choir so enjoyed practising one part of “Merrie England” that they demanded an encore.

All intending members are requested to join up at once. Mr Garde Grimshaw, of Palmerston North, had a successful audition with intending pupils on Saturday last. He intends -starting teaching on Saturday next and has vacancies for pupils. The Shannon district rs very fortunate in having the chance of such a teacher as Mr Grimshaw, who will guarantee to build up any voice under ordinary circumstances.

The Levin Choral Society has now a roll of 81 members, including some from Shannon.
