The Engineer reported having attended the Electrical Supply Authority Engineers' Conference at Wellington on ATay 24th and 25th. There was a large attendance of engineers from all parts of New Zealand and a large amount of useful business was put through. Officers of the Public Works, Post and Telegraph, and Railway Dcpaitments were present, and they contributed a considerable amount of useful information to the various discussions. Mr F. T. Kissel, Chief Electrical Engineer, Public Works Department, in an address, ga\e a review of the development of the Government underiakings, and a sketch of the proposed future programme. Papers were read and fully discussed on the following subjects:—Electric cooking, electricity in hospitals, interference to wireless by power Jmes, tests on small motors, triple braiding, and voltage regulation. Information that had been supplied -by different engineers, regarding the application and cost of electricity to various industries, etc., was circulated and discussed, and arrangements were made for observations and test*; to be carried out and data collected to be ■ submitted at the next conference. The information is extremely- valuable and very serviceable to the various engineers. The drafts of the Electric Supply Regulations, and the Electrical Wiring Regulations, were submitted and ;lisc*ussed, and several amendments were suggested. It is expected that these regulations will be gazetted vevy shortly.
The chairman said that at the conference attended by Mr Smith a considerable number of very valuable papers were read, and he understood that the report which Mr Smith was presenting to the conference of the Power Boards Association would be a very useful one. The engineers' conference had at least had some effect on the general regulations of supply and distribution of electricity throughout the Dominion, as shown by the Gazette regulations. The engineers had, not, perhaps,; got all they wanted, effect had been to jhake conditions', little easier than what they weie. previously. The reports were received. ANALYSIS OF CONNECTED LOAD.
