SERVICE CAR AFIRE.

TOTALLY DESTROYED ON BUCKLEY HILL. An exciting incident occurred on the '•Buckley Hill yesterday morning, iwhen a scven-seater Buick service car. engaged in conveying newspapers, and driven by Mr F. A. Taylor, of Wellington, suddenly back-fired and burs.-, into flames. The car was totally des■troyed, the remains being only a tangled mass' of metal. Earlier in the morning, when the aar was coming down the Paekakariki Hill, it backfired, but the outbreak was quickly extinguished. There were no passengers, and the newspapers on board were saved. The value of the car was £6OO, and it was insured for £4OO.
