PRESIDENT’S REPORT. The president (Mrs Clifford-Joncs) reported aa follows: —-I have much pleasure in submitting' the annual report of the Shannon Branch of the Plunket Society. During the past twelve months we have bec-n progressing slowly, but surely. Although, the visits to the rooms of both adults and children show a slight falling off, this may be accounted for by the increased number-of visits to homes by the nurse, which tends to show that parents are beginning to appreciate the services of the nurse. The approximate figures are: — - ■ n
1925-26 1926-27 Visits to homes 63 *j7 Visits of adults to rooms 457. • 379 Visits of children, to-rooms 478 ' 385: It was with regret that we_ received the hews of the death of Lady Trubyl King, the worthy helpmate of her hus' band in the great, cause of “Save our Babies,” also of Mrs Theomin. The service rendered-to the Society by these ladies was' invaluable and will' long be remembered-. During the year Mrs I-lardie resigned from the committee owing to her leaving the district and Mrs Butt was elected in her place. We also lost the services of Nurse Mae, Gillivray who during her visits to Shannon, gave great satisfaction. Her place has been filled by Nurse Norris and I feel ..aure that the. Society has again been fortunate in securing the services of. a thoroughly competent muse. The Biennial Conference was hold in Wellington in July and was • attended by delegates from all parts of the Dominion, Shannon being represented by Mrs Hutton (vice president) and Mrs Spencer (secretary) Both ladies tin their return presented an interesting report of the conferene> including remits and new rules regarding sub-branches. We were fortunate in receiving a grant of £25 from the T. G. McCarthy Fund, enabling us to. carry on without touching our reserve. The incoming committee would bo well advised to make application again this year. I wish to thank the committee and secretary for their assistance and support during the past twelve months, and all those who have assisted in any way whatever to help and advance the weik of the Plunket Society. The election of officers took place, and a number of new members were elected subject to their consent. All the old officers were re-elected. A number of important subjects were discussed, an I a hearty vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
