MANGAORE TENNIS CLUB.

‘ ‘WINDATP” SOCIAL AND DANCE The Mangaore Tennis Club befittiugly held a “Wind-up’’ social and dance for the season 1926-27, in the staff “bach” at Mangaore on Saturday evening last. There were quite a number of members and residents present, including visitors from Mangahao and Shannon. During the evening, vocal items were rendered by Mrs W. H. Gregory (song), Messrs D. Owen (song), and C V M. Cronquest (monologue), the accompanist being Mrs Owen. After supper the opportunity was taken of presenting trophies donated by enthusiasts during .the season. The President (Mr A. K. Blackwood), m his remarks, stated that the past season had been a very successful one and that the various competitions and matches had been fought out in a keen friendly spirit and enthusiasm. . He then sented the followiug trophies: Trophy donated by Mr Howard Andrew (Ladies’ Singles tourney).—Mrs •W. H. Gregory (clock), winner; Mrs A. R. Blackwood (runner-up, vanity brush). . ~ Trophy donated, by the President (men’s championship). —Mr J. S. Burgis (Loewe nipe). ' Trophy donated by Mr T. Grylls (Ladies’ championship). —Miss A. Gagliardi (jewel case). Trophy donated by Mr W. B. King (Mixed doubles). —Mr and Mrs Ostler (Doulton plate), _ Trophy donated by Mr J. W. Murray (most improved player in club). — Mrs W. H. Gregory (set of plate). Trophy donated by Mr E. L. Greensmith (runner-up to most improved player). —Mr A. G. Breen .(pigarette ■ c&sc) • The President, in conclusion, thanked all those interested in the Club for their handsome trophies, which really played a big part in bringing the season to a successful close. . Dancing was carried on till a late hour, and Miss Ev Quarrie, partnered by Mr Frank Murray, won the novelty dance competition. The music was supplied by Mr Bert. Spencer and the M.C. ’s duties were capably carried out v by Mi- Hugh Symons.
