SHANNON v. MIRANUI. This game was played on the Miranui ground, the Miranui team securing the verdict with a score of nineteen points, their opponents failing to score. The game was interesting and keenly 'contested. Miranui won the toss and preferred !o play with the wind at their backs. Shannon kicked off and soon •had the Greens defending, but relief came from a mark by Lee, Shannon, being compelled to force. On the ball going into play Greens were soon defending their line, a free kick being the means of allowing them to clear their line. Play then transferred to the other end where two attempts to pot a goal failed. Greens now began to attack, during which Croon received a long pass and 'went oVer at the corner. Picard failed to adet the extra points. Resuming, Greens attacked in earnest and were awarded a free kick, but Picard' failed to find the cross bar, Spectators were now getting a glimpse of good football, which was mostly in Greens’ favour, Morgan and Croon, both just missing a score at the corner. Play afterwards settled down in; midfield, for a few minutes, from where tlm Greens’ backs started a passing rush/ which resulted in Humphries scoring. Picard safely piloted the ball over the bar. Both ‘ lots of forwards worked hard, but it was easily seen that the Greens had the upper hand. Prom a nice- bit of play among the Miranui backs Lee added another try. Picard failed with the kick. Half time sounded with the score Miranui 11, Shannon nil. On resuming, play_was very open, both teams giving glimpses of goo 1 football, but Greens -were superior and finally through the agency of Farrell a good try was added to their tally. Green continued to press the Beds, Ja--1 micson being successful in getting I through zo score. Kicking against a I strong wind Picard added tiie extra points. Mr A- Sands, owing to Mr Bevan being indisposed, controlled the game.

FOXTON 0 v. WERAROA 0, A large and appreciative crowd gathered at the Foxton racecourse on Saturday to watch the two junior matches, paiticularly that between Foxton and Weraroa. A strong cross-wind, made kicking difficult. The whites with their superior weight had the best of the scrums,.but the Foxton forwards were superior in the loose.
