This game did not start until 3.15 with the result that it was finished in a failing light. The visitors arrived with one man short and owing to twoor three of the original team being unable to 1 - make the trip, the team was very much disorganised, evidence or which could be seen in the display they o-ave. After the first few minutes the game developed into a very one-sided affair and from the spectators’ point of view most uninteresting, and calls for little description. The Reds returned with a loose dribbling rush, but the full back , (L. Winiata) saved with a good kick to the line. The Greens now took a turn at attacking by a dribbling rush up the field. The spell ended Shannon 13, Otaki nil. The second spell opened with the Greens on the defensive and quite twothirds of the spell had been played before Greens reached the Red 25. The former put up.a great fight to prevent their opponents’ scoring. Time after time the Reds with loose rushes and short passing bouts endeavoured > to penetrate the defence and at one time in quick succession there were no less than three line outs and thre scrums within a yard or two of the line, yet Greens held them. A free kick award- ' eel the later enabled them to clear and play was brought back to centre, were from a series of short passing bouts, Roberts dummied his way round and passed to Hunt, who sent the ball on to P. Otaki not to be denied now tried their hand at attack and from a loose rush Bell broke through with the ball at his toe. He was supported by Leahy, the latter amidst applause, scoring Otaki’s one and only trv. Tahiwi failed to add the extra points. The Greens’ effort at attack was short lived, as on the ball going into play again, Reds again had them defending and from a scramble near the line K. Dalzell scored his second try. The kick at goal failed. Shortly after time was called," the final score being Shannon 2G, Otaki 3. Mr George had charge of the game.
