DIVER'S SKILL.
PURSE FROM HARBOUR-BED. . * \ .FREMANTLE, April 14. A unique recovery of lost treasure was made in Fremantle harbour to-day by Diver J. Ball., On Monday, while a lady passenger by the Osterley was ldoking over the rail, she dropped into the water her purse, containing a solid gold cigarette case, a gold pencil, English coins, .and Indian paper currency. The cigarette case was said to be / insured for £l2O, and the pencil case was valued at £lO. Ball was absent in Albany till yesterday and was not sanguine of success as the had been on the silty harbour bed for five days. However, he took the job on to-day, and succeeded m recovering the purse with its contents intact. It was handed over to the manager of the Orient Company for return to the owner.
