Age rests lightly upon an old-age pensioner on the northern gumlands, who is at pie-sent 96. Born and bred to a pioneering life, he has been accustomed to the saddle since his boyhood days, and, Jacking only four years to complete his ci-ntury, he is still a vigorous equestiian. Cantering along the back country roads in Rodney and Otamatea counties he earns a small sum, over and above. the amount that is regularly paid to him in the form of a pension, as the officer appointed ly the Pension Department to deliver payments in his area. Last month thib old identity. visited Auckland to take his part in the JRoyal celebrations, anu ' he lives in aaticipation of easily reach- / ing a hundred.—- Star.
