J SHANNON 20 v HUI MAI 6. f A return game was played between the above teams at the Shannon Domain on Saturday. Both teams had a number of last year's juniors in their I ranks, all of whom acquitted themi selves well. Considering that the playl ers have not struck form the game was fairly fast. Several of last year's prominent players showed glimpses of their old form. The home team were the superior on the day and secured a comfortable win, their score being made up of six tries, one of whieh was eonverted; against a try and a penalty goal registered by Hui Mai. Mr R. Sands had control of the game. At 'he Domain on Saturday afternoon the Shannon seniors will meet the Western United team from Palmerston North. A collection will be laken aX the gate. Followers of the game who attend should witness an evenly congested game. HOROWHENUA DISTRICT COUNCIL. INSURANCE AGAINST ACCIDENT. The Horowhenua Rugby District Council has adopted the following rules legarding the insurance of its players against accidents sustained on the football field:— 1. That all matters in connection with the fund be under the control of an Accident Insurance Committee of three members, to be appointed at th« Annual General Meeting of the Union. 2. Each senior team shall contribute £2 2s, each junior team £1 Is, third £1 Is and fourth grade team 10s 6d to the Accident Insurance Fund aunually. Such subscriptions to be paid to the secretary of the Fund before the team interested shall be allowed to take part in any matches under the control of the Union. a. The premium payable by each player per annum shall be as follows: Seniors and juniors 2s 6d, third and fourth grade, 2s 6d. These amounts may be payable to the secretary of the Fund, or to the Referee, and no player who fails to contribute to this Fund shall participate in the benefits thereof. 4. Each player entitled to participate in the Fund shall be paid £1 per week whilst unable to follow his occupation by reason of an accident received whilst playing football in any of the games indicated in Rule five hereof; but in no case shall a claimant receive payment for a longer period than six weeks. No player shall be entitled to the payment provided for by these regulations who 3hall play football within eight days of the accident in respect of which the claim is made.

5. Claims shall be allowed for injury sustained whilst playing in any match played under the control of the Horowhenua Rugby District Council. 6. No claim shall be entertained unless the accident in respect of which the claim is made has been reported by the claimant to the secretary of the Fund in writing within three days of the termination of the match. .7. No claim shall be entertained unless accompanied by a doctor's certificate, to the effect that the applicant has, by reason of the accident specified in the claim, been incapacitated from " following his occupation during the period claimed for. 8. The District "Council shall subscribe a sum of £lO 10s"to the Fund annually, and the Union shall not be liable for payment for any further sum other than the £lO 10s before mentioned.

9. Any contingency arising m connection with the Fund which is not provided for in the Rules, shall be left to the discretion of the Management Committee.

At the meeting of the management committee last Thursday evening, it was resolved, by way of interpretation, that players in practice games be entitled to compensation if injured, conditionally upon all insurances being paid and permission to play the match having been obtained from the Council.
