'The balance sheet presented showed receipts to be £4B 16s and the expenditure £35 17s 6d, thus leaving a credit balance of £l2 18s 6d. There are albo outstanding subscriptions amounting to £6, which brings the balance to £lB 18s 6d. , , , , In moving the adoption of the balance sheet Mr Johnson said the Club were to be congratulated on their satisfactory financial position, considering that during the last six years they had been compelled to form six new links. He questioned if there was a Club m any part of New Zealand which had so many links over a similar period and it said a lot for the members of the Club to have held together after the difficulties they had been up against. PRESIDENT'S REPORT. The president (Mr Blackwood) in his annual report says: The past season has not been so successful as have other seasons, owing to the fact that a number of players have left the district and that very few new players came along to take their place. The links played on during the season were not the unqualified success that the Club anticipated, chiefly owing to the rough nature of the ground caused by so much wet weather prevailing during the season. Nevertheless, the members had many enjoyable games. During the year medal matches were keenly contested and won by different players on almost every game. The •winners were: Ladies, Mrs Saxon and Misses Cole and Saxon. " Gents, Messrs Goodwin, F. Murray, H. C. Jones,. Burgis and J Murray. Interclub games were played with Levin, Foxton and Munawatu, but the only matches won by Shannon were the games against Foxton. Manawatu did not play a xeturn match against Shannon on the local links. The thanks of the Club are due to Messrs J Hennessy and O'Driscoll, the successive proprietors of the links; also to the groundsman, Mr. E Hayes, who did valuable work during the season. It is to be hoped the Club will be able to carry on this year and procure suitable links near the town and that sufficient numbers of players join up and so make the season of 1927-28 very successful. The hon. secretary is to be thanked by all for the valuable work done by him during the year, also the commit Lee who worked hard to make the game a success. Lastly, the ladies are to _be thanked most heartily for their kindness in providing the afternoon teas for players every Saturday. They took their turns without murmur whether the weather was wet or fine. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The secretary reported that a committee of men had discussed the pro curing of a new course, with the result that negotiations had been entered into to secure a course over the properties of Messrs Stern Bros and MessrsH. and C. Easton, at Buckley; a distance of about two miles from Shan non. The proposed course was a most (suitable one. The land was undulating and dry, being covered with short grass, and a course of any length can be laid out. A desirable advantage was that it would not be necessary to have to play any hole across a fence and they could eseape all cattle tracks. The President said it was very gratifying to be able to get such a suitable property. It was resolved that the committee be empowered to make the necessary arrangements with the owners cf the property, also as regards fixing the rental. GENERAL.
