BOWLING CLUB.

GENERAL MEETING. At a general meeting of members of the local Club held on Wednesday even, ing, it was decided to have the green levelled and top-dressed. The services of Mr. Tantrum, of Palmerston North, are to be obtained, to carry out the work, assisted by members of the Club, Messrs Gagliardi and Blackwood offering to do the survey and provide the necessary pegs. It was a recommendation to tne Green Committee that the green be closed from to-morrow (Saturday). Also that volunteers be called to carry out the weeding of the green and that this work be commenced immediately. The secretary (Mr. A. Mason), reporting on the results of the Card Tourneys held by the Club during the. winter months, said that a sum of £8 had been cleared. A hearty vote o<: thanks was accorded Messrs E. Butt, A. Mason, and H. C. Jones and the ladies who had helped to conduct the tourneys. . ■ , It was decided to hold similar card tourneys during the coming winter. A committee consisting of Messrs Gunning, E. Butt, Jones, B. Spencer, Knowles and Mason were appointed to make the necessary arrangements. A ladies committee is also to be formed. The question of holding dances during the winter was discussed and the secretary (Mr. Mason) was appointed to confer with the ladies of the Croquet Club with a view to co-operating with Them. NOTES. Two rinks journeyed to Palmerston Noith on Wednesday where they met two rinks from the Palmerston North Club for the Ainslie Cup. After enjoyable games the honu) rinks won on "the aggregate Dy 23 points. The results were as follows: — Shannon:—Blackie, Mason, Clayton, Murray (skip) 19 v. Palmerston North: —Bell, Hansel, Bayliss, Fraser (s) 23. Shannon.—Watterston, E Butt, Bovis, Gunning (s) 10 v. Palmerston North: —Boon, Wilson, Goldfinch, Paton (s) 29. Eketahuna are the next on the list of challengers for the Manson and Barr Cup now held by a Shannon rink. They are expected to play on Saturday.
