A meeting of the Otaki Maori Racing Club was held on Monday, when it as decided to give the. same value in stakes as at last June meeting. Ornamental gates are to be erected at the entrance to the course and other improvements effected. ? The horse boxes, on the lower side of, tjie saddling paddock, have beenre-i ,4pved to a site near the accommodation house. The move is one that should b.e appreciated by owners and trainers • Jazz Baby, who did not fulfil engage4ents at the Rangitikei meeting, has been showing signs of his old leg trouble and has had to be eased up. j Bahama, who had , been enjoying a spell, has rejoined the active brigade at Ellerslie. By Nassau, the chestnut cplt . had his last win at Takapuna in December last. f The Hymettus gelding Karamu, who p!aid a very tall price on one occasion, is reported to be again doing useful work at Ellerslie.. ! Town Guard, an Archiestown —Wee Dose gelding, is said to be one of the briggest horses in commission at Ellerslie. Probably later he will be given an insight into the -jumping game. 1 Musketoon has arrived back at tjie Otatara (Napier) stud.; It has not yet been decided whether the son of steadfast and Musk is to be put into Work again.
TBennanee, on Trentham running, is expected in" some quarters to shortly salute the judge again. Bennanee is a» son of Fair Roramond, who is the dam of Kick Off —a good performer in his day.

The new arrival has disclosed sufficient f9rm to indicate that her turn will not be long in coming. ilt is undestood that Lysander is to be accorded a spell for the remainder of the season.? The three-year-old has participated in. some gruelling contests, a'Striking feature having been his bulldog determination. cStarboard Light, who has been laid aside .suffering from the after effects of a severe-cold, is reported to be picking up again. IV is not improbable that he will among the entrants at Waipukurau on Easter Monday. ■Lady Carroll, of Gisborne, is back in the ranks of owners, the two-year-old filly by Cynic—Tatau Tatau called Njahi carrying her colours at Napier Park. The-filly is under the care of R, G-ooseman at Hastings and is stated to show promise. .As -Commendation will be at Auckland forthe.St. Leger. Stakes, it will .ppbably be found that Hynanna, who tested his ability to the fullest at Trentnern, will take on the Riccarton trip. j Royal Damon who enjoyed a remarkable run. of successes at the Christmas and New Year, holiday period, is fully expected to salute-the judge in the very 1 near future. P. Nash, who has been resident ■in Australia for the past nine, months, was apparently unfortunate in hot getting the verdict with Coinah at Moorefield in February. The Turf'Life, an Australian sporting periodical, commenting upon the race, .says: "Seen aiter the race, J. Simpson was very emphatic that his mount, Coinah, won. the first division of the Kogarah' Stakes by- a long headv "Bacagi,"'continues the paper, "who was heavily backed at 4;. and 5 to 1, headed the pacemaker, Marion. Court, at the home turn, and then led to within a few yards of the post, only to be run down by. the. fast finishing Coinah, but the. judge astonished onlookers by declaring a deadheat." Imperial Spark, .who was off the scene of action for a time, is .now reported to be his old self again-and the Palmerstonian may prove capable of catching a good stake with his- representative in the near future.
;Tressayr, who came to Australia a few years ago, as a member of R. J. Mason's team, is still capable of winning races in the country districts of Victoria, comments the Sydney - Sun. He narrowly won the St. Patrick's Haiidicp at Rainbow. Another win* ner at the meeting . was Knight's brother, Tieroach.-' -
