THRILLING STEEPLECHASE DRAMA. . *"" PETER B. KYNE'S BEST. "The Shamrock Handicap," Fox Films" latest production which will •show at the Shannon theatre on„ Saturday, is by America's famous magazine writer, Peter B. Kyne. "The 81uu»rock Handicap" is the story of NeiU Ross, heroic Irish jockey, and Rosaleen Dhu, after trrey are transplanted to an American track. Ross is the role played by Leslie Fenton one of the dramatie find* of the season. The boy is supposed to be permanently crippled when a rival pulls at his saddle just at the instant when his mount is poised to take a hurdle. The horse falls on him, injuring his back. He is injured on th« very day he has sent his savings of 2,000 dollars to the Gaffneys so that Rosaleen Dhu can be brought to America. He refuses to notify his friendi of the accident and they arrive to find him in a wheel chair. The patty is' broke, which makes possible a lot of humorous situations that relieve th© pathos of the drama. On the day of the big race, the jockey is unable to manage Ro3aleen. Ross, from hi« wheel chair, demands that he be strapped in the saddle. He rides to victory over the rival who crippled him and with the purse money he undergoes surgical treatment which" restores him to health. Then the entire party returrns in triumph to ("Uffney Manor, - where Lady Sheila becomes Mrs Roes. . "THE BORDER SHERIFF" ON MONDAY. "Long horns" in a "short horn" country aroused the suspicions of the pheriff of Cayuse who was on the trail of a gang"of dope smugglers. The sheriff being a good cattle man found much to surprise him in the' "long horns." Jack Hoxie is the sheriff and in "The Border Sheriff" the Universal star has found a fitting play with which to please his friends. . The,sup—. porting cast is good. Gilbert (PeeWee) Holmes, the little cowpunchercomedian who has made millions laugh bv his antics on the screen and his willingness to do battle with the biggest villain that was ever filmed, ,is seen in many new laugh-provoking stunts in "The Border Sheriff."-In this great story of life on the border with side trips to Washington and San Francisco Holmes proves himself ft worthy companion for his pal, the husky* Hoxie who plays the role of Sheriff Cultus Collins.
