The match for the Kinneburgh Feathers between Levin and Shannon on Saturday resulted in a win for Levin, this being the eleventh occasion on which the home team has successfully defended the Feathers. The tourney was conducted on the "sudden death" principle, 21 heads being played in each game. M. buhan, of the Levin Club, who has been champion for the past two years, was competing.. Following were the results: — First round.—Roach (Shannon) 21 v Eckersley (Manawatu), 20; Skinner (Terrace End) v.- Cunninghame (Northern), 20; J. H. Nash (Palmerston North) 27 v. W. Hornblow (Eketahuna), 12; Tantrum (Takaro) 20 v. Bissell ((Dannevirke), 14; Suhan, a ro^id.!—Roach 17 \j. Skinner, 12; Nash« 18 v. Suhan 12; Tantrum a bye. -. lT , 15 , Semi-final.—Tantrum 2G v. At the champion of champion singles tournament, held under the auspices of the Manawatu Bowling Centre at Palmerston North .on Saturday, Mr J. Roach represented Shannon, being successful in reaching the final, in which he met Mr Tantrum, of the Takaro Club,. In the play-off he was decisively beaten, retiring at the conclusion of the 19th head, when tbe score was 22 to 8 in his opponent s favour. The winner led throughout, and he deserved his win, as he played •in exceptionally fine drawn-g ?a.iie. Messrs Gunning and Morgan are representing Shannon at Palmerston N. to-day against the New South Wales bowlers, whil.? Messrs E. and H. Bntt, Jones and Gunning will represent the Club against Auckland at Palmerston North on Thursday. To-morrow evening the local omu will held a gala night, when a progressive pairs tourney will be played.
