HARNESSING THE JORDAN
POWER FOR PALESTINE. Lord Reading has been appointed chairman of the Palestine Electric Coporation, which is to supply Palestine with electricity by harnessing the Jordan. With him on the board of the corporation will be not only Sir Alfred Mond, Sir Hugo Hurst, and Mr James d> Rothschild, but also Mr Bernhard Earon and Dr. A. H. Railing. Mr. Baron is the head of a well-known tobacco firm. It is stated that the working capital required has been already subscribed, and Mr P. Rutenburg, who originated the scheme and will hold the post of managing-di-rector, is proceeding to Palestine to carry out the preliminary work.
