Five pens were entered and the Jesuits are — F. Da vies (Heatherlea) .... 1 and 2 E. M. and N. W. Ryder (Levin) .. 3 The judge was Mr G. W. Luxton grader, and his comments on the vari ous exhibits are as follows: First prize pan.—These were a ver; good lot of lambs, full of flesh, ver goed on legs and loins, nicely covere all over with fat, and a good colour. Second prize pen. —These were a nic let of lambs, very little inferior to th first let, their weakness being that the were lighter in flesh. They were goo in colour. ■ Third prize pen.—These were a nic lot of lambs, a shade light in flesh am faulty in colour. e/m. and JNT. W. Ryder's.—Thes were a nice quality, not quite so evei length and ,were not so evenly coyere< with fat, being incline'd to be patch; and a bad colour. E. M. and N. W, Ryder's—Thre of lambs were good quality, goo< shape, nicely covered and fleshy; th other two were long in legs and ligh in flesh. J. A. Kilsby's (Levin). —Four o: these lambs were fair quality, rathe weak in loin; the one graded secon< quality was plain and bad colour. J. A. Kilsby's.—These lambs wer fair on loin, but very weak in legs am shtmlders. E. M. and N. W. Ryder's.—Thesi lambs were plain on legs and shoulder and light in flesh. Hon. E. Newman's (Levin). —Thes* lambs were fair quality and meaty, bu a very uneven line.
