RENOWN'S FAREWELL TO MARQUESAS
+■ ■ REMINISCENCES OP CANNIBAL DAYS. MELBOURNE/ Feb. 12. A wireless from tho Renown states that a missionary, Mr. Delmas, who remembered Robert L. Stevenson's ;bjo»rn on the Island (Nukuhiva), visited the ship bearing gifts of fruit. He gave some interesting reminiscenscg of old cannibal .days and feasting places. The French Administrator paid a final official call, farewelling the Duke and Duchess. During the afternoon, the Duke presented him with a souvenir of the visit, expressing gratitude for all he "had done. He also sent a message to the Governor of Papeete warmly appreciating the courtesies shown to the Renown. Late in the afternoon natives clustered on all vantage points ashore to see a fine bit of ship-handling, there being not much room to swing tho Renown which turned almost in her own length, apparently as easy as a ferry boat. ,;.
