SHANNON TENNIS CLUB.

At a"committee meeting of the Shannon Tennis Club held last evening, the secretary reported that the financial position* of the Club was quije sound, and that there should be a credit balance :'n hand at the end of the season. It Mas decided that the general day in the week for play should be altered from Wednesday to Saturday as more members were attending the Courts on the latter clay. It was left to the ladies to re-arrange tea days. It was reporlcd that iwo matches had been arranged by members of the Club without the sanction of the Committee anil it was resolved to write to the members concerned re the matter. Tt was decided that the fence on the back line, being in need of repair, should be shifted back some three feet and that the work be done by members of .the Club, members to be advised as to date. Mr Hook advised that he had not as yet obtained suitable pins for competition among the junior, players, but would -procure same as early as possible. !

It was decided that a sub-committee of three be appointed to decide as to who should be the winner of the trophy presented by Mr J. W. Murray for the most improved player among the junior and senior members during the season, tne decision to be made by 31st March next.

During the meeting, the President referred to the los3 suffered by the Club owing to the death of Mrs Laurvig, a senior member and a life member of the Club. It was mentioned that the present position of the Club ia the district was due largely to the efforts of Mrs ■Laurvig, both as a member of the Committee and as a playing member. It was decided that some recognition of such service should be made and it was resolved to erect a small tablet in the pavilion suitably inscribed.
